Answer:

a) 885 students

b) 18 students

Explanation:

a) We know that 24 of the students were surveyed and 17 of them said they always wear a bike helmet.

So out of 1250 students, the estimated number of students who always wear a bike helmet will be =
(17)/(24) ×
1250 = 885.4

Therefore, approximately 885 students always wear a bike helmet.

b) We know the ratio of students who always wear a bike helmet i.e.
(17)/(24).

So if 13 of the students surveyed said they always wear helmets, we can find the total number of students surveyed this time by assuming it to be n.

(17)/(24) ×
n = 13

n = (13*24)/(17)

n = 18.35
18

Therefore, 18 students were surveyed the second time.
