Hello there,

Notebook = $1.45

Pencils = $0.42

Equation:

0.42p + 1.45 = 6.91

- 1.45 -1.45

----------------------------

0.42p = 5.46

/0.42 /0.42

--------------------

p = 13

Answer: Mark bought 13 pencils

Hope I Helped!

1.45 + .42p = 6.91

subtract 1.45 from each side

.42p = 5.46

divide by .42

p =13
