To what extent do you think the tank was important for allies in the overall war

The use of the tank during World War I was not a decisive factor in favour of the allies, although they had numerical advantage over the Germans. In World War II, Germany started with a technological advantage in tanks; however, towards the middle of the war allied tanks technology catched up and ended up being an important factor of victory.
