part a) after distributing the half into the parentehsis she was supposed to get a 4 not a 16, because 8 times half is 4 not 16
part b) the correct solution would be as follows:

3.5x -7 = 0.5x - 4

3.5x - 0.5x = -4 +7

3x = 3

x = 1
