Sullas seizure of Rome in 82 B.C. was partly the legacy of a new military recruitment system. Lucius Cornelius Sullas was given command of the war in Asia Minor. The Roman council attempted to then give leadership of the war to Marcus, this then resulted in a civil war. Lucius Sullas won and seized Rome.
