Matthew paid $5 for 8 toothbrushes. Jon paid $18 for 25 toothbrushes. Find the unit cost to determine how much each person paid per toothbrush.

I believe that to find the unit cost, you must divide the amount you have by the cost. Matthew paid $1.60 per toothbrush because if you divide 8 by 5, that is the quotient you would get. For Jon, he paid $1.38 for each.

Not sure if this is correct, hope it helps though!

Answer:

Matthew payed .63 (rounded .625) cents for each toothbrush while Jon payed .72 cents per toothbrush

Explanation:

$5 = 8 toothbrushes

$18 = 25 toothbrushes

5 / 8 = .625

18/25 = .72
