This sonnet is made of 3 quatrains (4 lines) and, as usual in Shakespeare's sonnets, two lines at the end (couplet). But, as this structure is very common, Shakespeare shows an scheme where rhymes are perfect "(Monuments/contents" or "Masonry/memory") which helps the text to be much more rigid. As for the topic, Shakespeare is trying to describe how his rhymes are immortal, as well as the beauty of whom he is speaking about. The sonnet prevents the reader from being emotional because it never shows emotion, nor positive or negative, until the very end when he expresses "You live in this, and dwell in lovers' eyes" where he implies admiration of the beauty of someone.
