Answer:

The function which is a linear function is:

x=y-3

Explanation:

Linear function:

A function is said to be linear if it is expressed in the form of:

y=ax+b

where a and b are real numbers.

a)

x=y-3

This expression could also be written by:

y=x+3

since, on matching this expression to the general linear function we have:

a=1 and b=3

Hence, we get that the given function is linear.

b)

y=x³+2

Since, the power of x is 3.

This means that the given function is a cubic function and not a linear function.

c)

y=6x²

The power of x is 2.

This means that the given function is a quadratic function and not linear.

d)

y=2/(3x)

Here the power of x is -1.

Hence, the function is not linear.

The equation of a linear function: y = mx + b

x = y - 3 → y - 3 = x add 3 to both sides

y = x + 3 it's a linear function!

y = + 2 NOT, because we have x³

y = 6 NOT, because we have x²

y = 2/(3x) NOT, because x is in denominator.
