The primary reason for a loss of dignity and self esteem was because people were out of work and could no longer provide for their families

Answer:

During the depression, men lost self-respect because they had nothing to live on. There was unemployment among them because of the economy fall. Men were willing to work to earn money to feed their family and themselves. People eat affordable food like oats and live in a different way of living. It was common for the men to feel anger, frustrated during this period because they lost all the money they had because of the fall of the stock market.
