This happens when Liesel finds out that both she and Max have nightmares, even as they are in different rooms. Papa realizes this too. Therefore, Liesel decides that she wants to talk to Max about his nightmares. She does so while Papa is sleeping on a chair near her bed. Over time, this causes Liesel to tell Papa that she does not need him to stay with her when she has nightmares. This seems to hurt him slightly.

Step-by-step explanation:

Max insists he should be the last priority as far as food goes. She had wanted to ask him if the book was good, but lost her nerve. Days pass Rosa doesn't want Hans to go play the accordion in a bar. When Papa notes the similarity, Liesel gets an idea.Soon, Max and Liesel begin telling each other their nightmares.

I hope you get the idea thanks.
