The Soviet Union army was led by General Georgy Zhukov. Adolf Hitlerwas very angry at General Paulus for losing the battle. He stripped Paulus of his rank and held a national day of mourning for the shame Paulus had brought on Germany by losing. German tanks had trouble fighting in the streets of Stalingrad.

The Battle of Stalingrad during World War II was won by ( C ) : the Soviet Union. The victory consisted on the successful defense of the city of Stalingrad, presently Volgograd, by the Soviet Union, stopping the German further advance into the Soviet Union. The defeat of the Germans had a strong psychological effect and it is considerd to be one of the World War II turning points.
