First you take 6 and dived it by 4

6/4= 1.5

then you make 1.5 a fraction

1 1/2

after you make 1 1/2 a mixed number

3/2

after you divide 4.2 by 3/2 but since 4.2 is not a fraction we have to do that.

4.2= 4 1/5

we make 4 1/5 a mixed number giving us

21/5

then you divide 21/5÷3/2

(but you multiply and flip but you should know that)

21/5·2/3=

14/5= 2 4/5

2 4/5 is your answer!

Answer: Length of shorter side is 2.8 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Dimensions of a room are given by

4.2\ m* 6\ m

On a plan, the longer side = 4 cm

As we know that the ratio of original room is equal to ratio of plan room

So,

(4.2)/(6)=(x)/(4)\\\\4.2* 4=6x\\\\16.8=6x\\\\(16.8)/(6)=x\\\\2.8=x

So, length of shorter side is 2.8 cm.
