Answer: Steven solved an expression

-0.46+0.6 (which is 0.14) instead of the original -0.46-0.6. Steven's error was adding a positive 0.6 instead of a negative 0.6.

Correctly, adding two negative numbers corresponds to adding their magnitudes in the negative direction on the number line, with the result being negative, so -0.46-0.6 is the same as -(0.46+0.6)=-(1.06)=-1.06

1. he didn't put the negative sign on his answer

2. he was supposed to add because it is a negative minus a positive
