What is the equation in point-slope form of the line passing through (3, 6) and (−2, 1)?

1. y + 6 = 1(x + 3)
2. y + 1 = −1(x + 2)
3. y − 6 = −1(x + 3)
4. y − 6 = 1(x − 3)

The point-slope form:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)\\\\m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

We have the points (3, 6) and (-2, 1). Substitute:

m=(1-6)/(-2-3)=(-5)/(-5)=1\\\\y-6=1(x-3)

Answer: 4. y - 6 = 1(x - 3)
