let x represent the price of gold
x + 1.5 week 1
x + 1.5 - 3.375 = x - 1.875 week 2
x - 1.875 + .625 = x - 1.25 week 3
x - 1.25 + 1.5 = x + .25 Week four
the price of gold went up 25 cents in four weeks total
