In this case we have an equation of the form
y = 4x-2

If we have
x = 5, we must find the value of y, in this way we have:

y = 4 (5) -2

We solve the multiplication:

y = 20-2

We know that different signs are subtracted and the sign of the major is placed:

y = 18

So, when
x = 5 then
y = 18

Answer:

The result of evaluating the given expression at
x = 5 is:
y = 18
