At present a women is twice as old as her daughter . Twenty one years ago she was three times older than her daughter . What is the women's present age?

Given :

At present :

Let :

daughter's age = x

Woman's age = 2x

21 years ago :

Woman's age = 3 times daughter's age

2x - 21 = 3(x - 21)

2x - 21 = 3x - 63

-21 + 63 = 3x - 2x

42 = x

Daughter's age = 42

Woman's age = 2x = 84

Hence, woman's present age is 42 years
