According to Genesis 25:21-28, Rebekah was Issac's wife, and she was unable to get pregnant. With the help of God she conceived twins, but God conveyed three items of information to her about her unborn sons. He said to her:
“Two nations are in your womb,
and two peoples from within you will be separated;
one people will be stronger than the other,
and the older will serve the younger.”
The boys were twins, and she named them Esau and Jacob. The two were very different, with Esau being a good hunter, and Jacob being more comfortable at home.
