How was the Medieval motet different from the Renaissance motet?

They are exactly the same.

Medieval motet was a simple, monophonic chant.

Renaissance motet was a sacred polyphonic work for at least 4 voices in imitative style.

Both styles employed multiple, simultaneous texts.
