During his first term from 1933-1937 he appointed one Supreme Court Justice. Hugo Black was nominated Aug 12, 1937.

During his first term, Roosevelt was able to appoint eight new members of the Supreme Court of the United States they were: Hugo Black, Stanley Reed,Felix Frankfurther, William O. Douglas, Frank Murphy, Harlan Fiske Stone, James F. Byrnes, Robert H. Jackson and Wiley Blount Rutledge.
