Folk culture consists of culture and practices performed by a small group of people with shared or similar culture and characteristics often living in an isolated area distant from other groups. Examples of folk culture include: the traditional Hawaiian Hula, traditional foods created by groups of people, and the Native American pow-wow gathering.

Popular culture can be defined as a set of beliefs, ideas, practices, and/or objects deemed popular, dominant, and/or important by the majority of a current society. This can include but is not limited to: art, music, media, literature, and dance.
