Why did the ufw stop the boycott in 1975 ?

The UFW uses the boycott to convince some large vegetable companies to abandon their Teamster agreements and sign UFW contracts.

The boycott was originally implemented as a way to make growers allow workers to vote for their representation in labor disputes. This was particularly directed towards Gallo wine, lettuce and table grapes. However, the boycott was eventually lifted. Cesar Chavez lifted the boycott because he was hopeful and "cautiously optimistic" about the compromise they were looking for. The UFW believed that the courts, as opposed to the boycott, could now insure labor rights, in particular pension plans, medical benefits and wage improvements.
