The net of a right rectangular prism is shown below. The measurements are given to the nearest tenth of a centimeter. What is the surface area of the prism?

Answer: c. 352.50 cm²

Explanation:

Looking at the shape one can see that it is made up of 3 rectangles and 2 triangles.

The surface area will therefore be the sum of the areas of these 5 shapes.

Rectangle area = Length * width

= 7.5 * 13.5

= 101.25 cm²

There are 3 of them:

= 101.25 * 3

= 303.75 cm²

Triangles = 1/2 * base * height

= 1/2 * 7.5 * 6.5

= 24.375 cm ²

There are two of them:

= 24.375 * 2

= 48.75cm²

In total:

= 303.75 + 48.75

= 352.50 cm²
