so you need to know how much is 3 1/4 miles times 3

to make it simpler

3*3=9

then you have the three 1/4ths

1/4+1/4+1/4=3/4

so now you have 9 3/4 but remember you have to add back the first trail that was 3 1/4

9 3/4 + 3 1/4 = 13

so the answer is 13
