Determine the x- and y-intercepts of the graph of y=1/4 x−2

and

Make a table of ordered pairs for the equation.

y=−1/3x+1

Graph is for both questions

Answer:

Explanation:

Problem A

Basically all you have to do is put in 0 for x to give the y intercept and

0 in for y to give the x intercept. Here we go

x intercept

y =0

0 = (1/4)x -2 Add 2

2 = (1/4)x Multiply both sides by 4

2*4 = x Combine and switch

x = 8

===============

x = 0

y = (1/4)*0 - 2

y = -2

Intercept points

x_intercept: (8,0)

y_intercept: (0, - 2)

Problem 2

Essentially you make up the table by using random numbers meaning any number for x and solve for y.

x = -3

y = (-1/-3)(-3) + 1

y = -3/-3 + 1

y = 1 + 1

y = 2

--------------

y = 6

y = (-1/3)*6 + 1

y = -6/3 + 1

y = - 2 + 1

y = - 1

----------------

two other points are

(0,1) and

(-6,3)

To create the graph go to Desmos.

The red graph is y = (1/4)x - 2 The two intercepts are marked.

The blue graph is y = (-1/3)x + 1

The 4 points from the table are on the blue line. The table is on your left.

If you see a mistake let me know. This is the noisiest place I've ever been in.
