Answer and Explanation
An electric devise which extracts heat from a point and transfers it to another is called a heat pump. Refrigerators and air conditioners apply this technology.
A heat pump circulates the refrigerant through an evaporation and condensation cycle to transfer the heat. A compressor then pumps the refrigerant substance between two heat exchanger coils. In one of the coil, the refrigerant undergoes evaporation at low pressure to absorb heat from the surrounding. The refrigerant then undergoes compression to follow the other coil where it undergoes condensation at high pressure. It releases the heat at this point that has been absorbed in the cycle.
