There was conflict between the Miami Indians and the American settlers because American settlers took their land.

Since the very beginning, English colonists lived in permanent conflict with Native American Indian tribes. Both parts saw the land from a different perspective. The Native Americans believed that the land belonged to them since was owned by their ancestors. But they did not exploit the land, they honored and thanked nature for all it provided. The white colonists though completely different. They wanted more land to exploit the many raw materials and natural resources and make a profit,
