Victor makes three different purchases at three different stores in one afternoon. Each time, he spends 1/3 of the money he is carrying. If he ends the day with $16, how much money did he have at the start of the day?

I believe the answer is 48 and I'll explain why...

so I made the problem....

-1/3s -1/3s -1/3s = 16 then combine like terms...

-3/3s = 16 now multiply each by -3...

-3s = -48 now divide by 3....

S = 16

so it's safe to say he started with 48$...hope it was some good stuff he bought.
