Wells college in New York was once an all-girls college. I'm 2005, the college began to allow boys to enroll. By 2012, the ratio of boys to girls was 3 to 7. If there were 200 more girls than boys in 2012, how many boys were enrolled that year?

Answer:

The number of boys enrolled was 150.

Explanation:

Suppose, the number of boys enrolled was
x

As there were 200 more girls than boys, so the number of girls
= x+200

Given that, the ratio of boys to girls was 3 : 7 , so the equation will be........

(x)/(x+200)= (3)/(7) \\ \\ 7x=3x+600\\ \\ 7x-3x=600\\ \\ 4x=600\\ \\ x=(600)/(4)=150

So, the number of boys enrolled was 150.
