if Holden did 3/4 of a race in 2 hours, then you can set up the equation like this

(3 \: parts \: of \: the \: race)/(4 \: total) = (2 \: hours)/(x \: hours)
basically if holden did 3 parts of the race in 2 hours, you want to find how long it will take to do all 4 parts of the race in x hours

to solve it, you do something called cross multiplication where you do the numerator of one times the denominator of the other, equals the denominator of one times the numerator of the other, so

4 * 2 = 3 * x \\ 8 = 3x \\ x = 8 / 3 \\ x = (8)/(3)
and you get 8/3 hours :)

or 2 hours and 40 minutes
