Given that number of pounds of berries that Jessica bought =
(3)/(4) lb

Given that "Mary bought
(1)/(6) lb of berries less the jessica"

then number of pounds of berries that Mary bought

=((3)/(4)-(1)/(6)) lb

=(3)/(4)\cdot(3)/(3)-(1)/(6)\cdot(2)/(2) lb

=(9)/(12)-(2)/(12) lb

=(7)/(12) lb

Now we need to find the total weight of berries in pounds that they bought.

To find that we just need to add both values.

(3)/(4)+(7)/(12)

=(3)/(4)\cdot(3)/(3)+(7)/(12)

=(9)/(12)+(7)/(12)

=(16)/(12)

=(4)/(3)

Hence final answer is
(4)/(3) lb.
