tickets for a school dance were sold over a 3 week period. One third of the tickets were sold on the first week, 56 tickets were sold on the second week, and half of the remaining tickets were sold on the third week. x - 1/3x - 56 - 1/2( x - 1/3x - 56) = 47

x - 1/3x - 1/2x + 1/6x - 56 + 28 = 47

1/3 x = 75

x = 3*75 = 225 answer
