Hi There!

---------------------------------------

We Know:

Length is 3 times greater than the width.

---------------------------------------

Find:

The Perimeter

---------------------------------------

Solution:

3 x 3 = 9

9 + 9 = 18

18 + 3 = 21

21 + 3 = 24

---------------------------------------

Answer:

Length: 9

Width: 3

---------------------------------------

Reason:

The reason that's the answer is because the width is exactly 3 times less than the length.

---------------------------------------

Hope This Helps :)

Answer: The length is 15/2 in and the width is 9/2 in.

Step by step:

Set up the equations that reflect what is said:

2L + 2W = 24 | perimeter of the rectangle is 24

L = W + 3 | length is three inches greater that its width

now solve for L and W:

2L + 2W = 24

L -W = 3 | multiply by 2 and add equations:

4L + 0W = 30

--> L = 30/4 = 15/2

--> W = 15/2 -3 = 9/2
