What is NOT a way that enzymes speed reactions?

Hey there!!

  • An enzyme is an organic catalyst. But both have the same task which is to speed up the reaction.
  • There are three way by which a reaction could be made quicker.
  • By increasing concentration
  • By increasing temperature
  • By using a catalyst.
  • A catalyst speeds up the reaction by lowering the activation energy.
  • Activation energy is the energy needed in order to start a reaction.

An enzyme cannot extract heat from the environment to speed a reaction. It can only lower the activation energy barrier so that more substrates have the energy to react.
