Solve for x.



5x−2(x+1)=14 ​

5x−2(x+1)=14 ​

distribute

5x -2x-2 =14

3x-2 = 14

add 2 to each side

3x = 16

divide by 3

x=16/3

Answer x=16/3 or 5 1/3
