Michaelangelo Buonarroti
and
Raphael of Urbino
represent one of the most famous rivalries between the
painters of the Renaissance (1300-1600).
To be more specific, Michaelangelo, well known for his grumpiness, felt envy and anger for Raphael: not only they both worked in the Vatican in the 1500's but Raphael was younger and more acclaimed and accepted by the public, specially by
Pope Leo X
. Furthermore, Raphael's artworks clearly showed Michaelangelo's influence, so much so that he later accused him of plagiarism.
