The Mayflower had diverse type of passengers. One one side there were the separatists, which were England citizens that did not want to follow the Church of England, as was directed to do by the King. The non-separatists passengers on the Mayflower, were also known as puritans. This was a group of English people that had the desire of adopt reforms for the Church of England, and by doing so, purify it. They were granted the right of settlement in Massachusetts by the King.
