Step-by-step explanation:

  • We eat food mainly to get energy. That energy is used for cellular metabolism like Cellular reproduction, Cell repairing, new cell formation and in cellular metabolisms.
  • So our food is first converted into glucose and we also get oxygen from air (mechanical respiration).
  • Hence that glucose and oxygen reacts together in a metabolism known as respiration producing water, carbon dioxide and energy.
  • It occurs in mitochondria of cells.
