A volcano in Washington State erupts and the ash covers a forest. Forest rangers come in and plant hardwood trees. Should the rangers have allowed succession to occur naturally and slowly on its own? Predict what effect this will have on the ecosystem.

In the given case, if a volcano has erupted in Washington State and has destroyed a forest, then according to my opinion, the Rangers should permit succession to take place rather than planting only one kind of tree in the whole forest.

The slow procedure by which the ecosystem change and evolve with time is known as an ecological succession. It has been found that nothing stays the same, and habitats are changing spontaneously. There are two main kinds of succession, that is, primary and secondary.

In case, if only hardwood trees are grown and succession would not be allowed that the entire ecosystem will possess no diversity.
