length = \sqrt{{(x1 - x2)}^(2) + {(y1 - y2)}^(2) } \\ = \sqrt{ {(8 - 8)}^(2) + {( - 2 - 4)}^(2) } \\ = \sqrt{ {( - 6)}^(2) } \\ = √(36) \\ = 6 \\ therefore \: length \: of \: a \: side \: of \: the \: square \: is \: 6 \: units
