Patrick Henry was one of the freedom fighters and co-founders of America. When the British passed the Stamp Act in 1765, he passed a number of resolutions in the Virginia legislature which opposed the act. He declared that the Americans should be taxed only by their own representatives and thus people should pay no taxes unless passed by the colonist legislature. There began protests everywhere against the act which later forced the British to repeal the same.
