How to round 4.999 to the nearest hundred

It would round up to 5 because the .999 would make the other digits go to 0, and turn the 4 into a 5 so the answer would be 5.00

Answer:

If you are rounding to the nearest hundredth*, then the answer would be 5.000 or just 5.

Explanation:

The reason why is because when you round you:

  1. Look to the right of the number you are rounding to see if that number is 5-9 or 4 or below. Example: 4.999← this number will determine whether you round the bold number up or let it stay the same.
  2. Next if the number is 5-9 then round up. Then, you change the numbers that are at the back of the rounded number to zero.(THIS IS ONLY IF YOU ROUNDED THE NUMBER!!) If it is 9 you change that number to 0 then add one to the number to the left of it. Example: 4.900, then it changes to 5.000.
