Answer:

Dimes = 35

Quarters = 14

Explanation:

Let

quarters = q

Dimes = d

Total coins = 49

There are 2.5 times as many quarters as there are dimes in the bag

Dimes = 2.5q

Quarters + Dimes = Total

q + 2.5q = 49

3.5q = 49

q = 49/3.5

q = 14

d = 2.5q

= 2.5 * 14

= 35

d = 35

Therefore,

Dimes = 35

Quarters = 14
