We assign x and y to a value.

Since it is asking for two consecutive numbers, y is 2 more than x, who is also an odd number, because an odd number plus two is an odd number.
So y = x+2

We make the other equation now. It says that the bigger number (I’ve assigned it Y) plus twice the smaller number (Y + 2x) is the same as 27 less than 4 times the smaller number (4x - 27 because we are taking away 27 from x multiplied by 4) from here you solve. Check picture for steps on how.
