Well, my participation grade affects my overall grade by giving it a better boost to my grade or a lower grade. My participation is very important because if I don't participate in my class, that not only affects my participation grade but it affects my overall grade by possibly failing a test or quiz, which would lower my grade even more if my participation grade was already lowered. My participation grade may also affect my overall grade by showing that I don't pay attention enough, which means that again, I might not be paying attention to everything I learned, and failing on a quiz or test. It may also show the teacher that, maybe something is wrong, and I may need more help on this class.
