Literary Analysis: Conflict and Resolution
Read the passage. Then, answer the question(s).
Ollie heard someone tapping on his bedroom window. He climbed out of bed and went to the window. His friends Lane and Andy stood in the moonlight outside, looking anxious. "It's about time!" Andy said with exasperation. "You've got to help us, or else we're in big trouble. We sneaked my dad's car out for a ride around the block, but the engine died. We need your help pushing the car back into the garage."
Ollie took a deep breath while he debated with himself. Andy and Lane were his good friends, but he didn't want to become an accomplice to a crime. His strong urge was to say no, close the window, and climb back into bed. "Come on, Ollie!" Lane urged. "We need your help—now!" Suddenly, Ollie noticed a figure in the street. The man was carrying a flashlight and headed straight toward them.
