Start by making -4 1/2 an improper fraction then divide it by four (as an improper fraction which I would do 8/2. The way you do this is by taking the reciprocal of the second number which in this case is 2/8 and then multiply both fractions together which would give you 18. But don't forget to add the negative which would make it -8
