Tempe fire officials are investigating a blaze that destroyed a woodworking shop at 2400 East Laird Street in Tempe last night.

Fire marshal Don Martin said firefighters were called to the scene shortly after 11 p.m. yesterday and extinguished the fire, cause of which has still not been determined. Authorities estimated structural damage to be over $15,000 and at least $5,000 worth of wood and supplies inside were destroyed and damaged. Authorities said the heat inside the building was so intense that woodwork and paneling buckled and sprang from the walls.

Officials are attempting to contact the owner of the building. Martin added that the building appeared to have been abandoned and boarded up from the outside. However, he said, firefighters found numerous building materials inside the shed.

Analyzing editorials is an important skill for the critical thinker. There can be much learned from editorials, but you must be able to evaluate what is said.

Find an editorial in one of the newspapers you read.

Document your source properly, using MLA format and a write a brief summary of the discussion.
With what kind of subject matter does it deal?
What is the editor's position on the subject?
Does the editor support his position with facts?
Does the editor attempt to appeal to his readers' emotions? How?
