The short story of Katherine Anne Porter tells about an old woman recollection of reelevant moments of her life before facing her inminent moment of death using an elaborated use of symbolism as well as a difficult exploitaition of point of view.

It is interesting to add the deep psychological analysis that the author performs of her main character; a dying woman and her point of view about life and death.

The last moments of life of Mrs Weatherall are narrated in a stream of conciousness narrative technique which is Porter“s usual style.

Although events of the past are obviously included , being this a story of a woman who remembers her life and times, such events take place in the same room and time.
