Make an equation of the line in slope intercept form

The points on a coordinate plane are (-1,-8) and (2,7)
so far I know Y=5x but I don't know what the y- intercept would be

The y intercept is the y coordinate when x=0.

Use the formula y=mx+b.

y=5x+b

To do this, pick one of the points and substitute its points for x and y.

I chose (2,7):

7=5(2)+b

7=10+b

subtract 10 from both sides..

-3=b!

So the y intercept is -3.

The equation is y=5x-3! ^_^
